Indoor is Safer!

What's new at GatSplat!

We had so many people say they really enjoyed watching our progress pages... we thought we would continue. The main construction is done, we are open, but we are not done. We have many things we are adding weekly, and more things coming. To keep you up to date with the newest things, we will update this page, putting the newest stuff at the top. Check out what's new!

Update March 17

We decided to dress up the back room. It's long been a western town theme - but we decided to change it up a bit. We've added thousands of dollars worth of fog machines, dual color laser, spinning light effects, 18 - 500 Watt Par 64 theatrical lights, and of course, the computerized controller to run it all. The end effect? Picture playing paintball in a night club... and you're pretty close! Check out the Back Field Video! Or better yet - come play it yourself!

Update Feb 22

If you haven't been in our shop for a while - you have to check it out now. We have so much product in stock, we are hanging it from the rafters. No more of the "Oh we don't have that size, but we can order it." At GatSplat we keep a full stock of the Invert, Dye and Proto clothing lines. Not to mention guns like the DM7, PM7, Rail, Angel A1 and on... and on... and on.

I just had another customer come into our shop to look at guns... and I had just sold him a new Ion before Christmas. He got to use it 2 times, and it got stolen at another field. I wanted to make sure that all our customers know that there is not a safer place anywhere than GatSplat. We just added another bunch of cameras, so now your gear is constantly being watched and recorded by 32 cameras in our staging area. Knock on wood - no one has lost a gun, hopper, etc at our field... and rest assured, we will do everything in our power to keep it that way!

Sometimes with folks moving on and off the field, we ran into a little congestion at the door... so we added another! Now it's easier in and out to get to the fields.

We thought it was time to change things up a bit on the main field, so we got a set of 4 mini-X bunkers. These are great, about five and a half feet tall, so you can shoot over them, and great side positions as well. We move them around a bit, just like the rest of the bunkers, but they are normally near the back 4 corners. Come check out the play from these bunkers - I'm sure you'll like it!

Who's our biggest fan?
Well, I'd say this one is! This baby is a 220 volt 3 phase monster with a 5 foot blade span. It's mounted on the ceiling of the X-Ball field. It moves a ton of air so we can dry out the field or cool it down in a hurry! Of course, we also have 40 tons of AC in here - so when the summer heat hits, you know the weather is always great inside!

Update Jan 3

Since we've had more players showing up, we didn't want any waiting, so we expanded our air table to have 3 3000 psi fill stations, and 1 4500. So now - no waiting! (Please... no comments about the carpet pattern!)

Update December 2
We just finished our orientation DVD that we play for new players to our facility. It goes over all the rules, how to play, gun safety, etc. We have it posted and if you want to see it... have a fast connection (it's about 50 meg) feel free to check out our Orientation Video. We've also had a lot of woods ballers asking for CO2 fills, so we brought in a CO2 fill station, and can take care of your CO2 needs now as well as our 4500 psi air fills.

Update October 25
We've been slowly getting all the retail stock from ScubaToys over to the new field here. We've got most everything here... just don't really know where it is yet... "I'm sure we have that... in a box somewhere.." But we are working on it every day, so next time you come in, you should see more and more retail stock displayed. From a spring kit for your gun, the V35 Halos, the 07 Shocker, new accessories for Ions, Special Ops woodsball stuff and more.

And if you've been in over the last week, you probably noticed that we ran wall to wall carpeting throughout the staging area. This makes sure no one slips, plus it's much cleaner, so if you drop some paint, you can just pick it up instead of throw it away. It also knocks down some of the sound, and overall makes the staging area much nicer... come see for yourself!

Update October 10
If you read through our other pages and checked out our Rules Sheet, you know that we are running a field chrono speed of 260 fps. We have the Chrono and target range where people can set up their markers, but in order to make sure everyone is on equal footing and playing fair, we added a chrono table as you enter the field. This lets us spot check all outside guns for speed. We just want to make sure no one is shooting too hot. It helps insure our two main goals... Fun, and Safety.

Update Sep 29
We added a few things in the last 10 days. We kept having people ask us where the Chrono Room was, and where the restrooms were... so we got some letters to make some signs. I think we got them straight... didn't we?

And in our scuba shop where the GatSplat retail shop was born, we constantly had people coming in to buy a mask "because mine got stolen out at this field", or a new barrel because, "someone scammed mine when we were over at blah... blah."

I decided that was not going to be the case here. We wanted the nicest, safest facility available, so we installed a bank of visible (and hidden) video cameras on the facility that get constantly recorded on and off site. So if you come in... relax... and smile!

That's it for today, we'll let you know when the next changes come up!

Update Sep 19

When we opened up, we had a sound system in the back room.. the Wild West town. This gives us the ability to play CD's during the games. Also, we hooked up the refs with wireless head set mics so when they are calling the start, end, players out, etc, you can hear them. Really Well!

It was so well received, we decided to drop a sound system into the X Ball field as well. Below you can see the 500 watt mixer with the 200 CD changer sitting on top of it.

And to the right, you can see one of the speakers hanging from the ceiling, along with a shot of one of our refs - Kyle, sporting the wireless headset mic under his goggles - very much like Janet Jackson... but we promise.... no wardrobe malfunctions at our facility!

One of the biggest problems with an indoor field is cleanup. To help solve that, we did a little inventing. This is our golf cart, and bolted to the front, you can see we have a device that when we drive around, it gathers up the paintballs, then sucks them up with a shop vac. Pretty Cool! Right now we have to plug in the shop vac, so we can't really use it during the day, we have to move the bunkers. But early next week, we have a 4000 watt inverter coming in, then it will power itself off the golf cart batteries, and be a self contained unit - able to cruise around between games and scoop up the paint!

If you want to see this baby in action, check out the Golf Cart Gobbler Video. (Warning... about 5 meg file)
And we found an awsome vacume cleaner - big and wide, that picks up all the tiny broken pieces - assuring that the turf is new looking every day when we open. Between these two monsters - no paintball stands a chance on our field - either whole or broken!

We realize that you have to take a break from playing paintball... but you still want to shoot - so how about a Virtual Reality shooting video game? We bought a Beach Head VR game so if you want to use something a bit bigger than a paintball gun... like machine guns, cannons, SAMS... this is the ticket!

I didn't like the TV we had in the Parents Lounge... the LCD picture bothered me a bit... so we swapped it out for a High Def Plasma. Sweet! Now the parents can sit in the lounge, watch HD and browse the net at T1 speed on our free WIFI system.

Ok, one of the neatest things we've added is our new WebCam. This is live, and from your browser you can take control, pan, tilt, zoom, and check out the playing field, staging area, front counter - virtually anywhere in the store! Really cool!

Hopefully you can come out and see our newest changes - but until you do - we'll try to keep you informed.
